A Welcome to Elderfield gift guide boils down to three numbers and one rule: loved gifts give +8 friendship, liked +6, neutral +4, and you can give one gift per day and two per week per villager. Personal preferences beat the shared tables, so the same item can be a favorite for one character and a hated gift for another. This page collects the documented preferences for all nine relationship characters.
How Gifting and Friendship Work
Talk to the character, choose the gift option, and select one item from your inventory. The gift guide stresses that the limits make each gift matter, and the wiki adds that personal preferences override the universal rules. Hated and disliked gifts actively cost you friendship, so an unconsidered gift is worse than no gift.
| Reaction | Friendship | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Personal favorite | +8 | The best result available |
| Personal like | +6 | Second tier, still strong |
| Personal neutral | +4 | Helps even when the reply sounds flat |
| Common liked | +5 | Applies when no personal preference exists |
| Common neutral | +3 | Applies when no personal preference exists |
| Disliked | -6 | Costs friendship |
| Hated | -8 | The worst result; check lists first |
| Villager | Documented gift choices | Reaction |
|---|---|---|
| Alice | Funneltop, Shadewing Moth, Lesser Holy Water | Loves (+8) |
| Blorph | Odd Sandwich, Godflesh, Stealth Musk | Loves (+8) |
| Celeste | Cup of Coffee, Cup of Tea, Pumpkin | Likes (+5) |
| Edwin | Gorgon's Eye, Duskberry Cake, Void Crystal Bar | Loves (+8) |
| Ellie | Pickled Eyeballs, Bloodwing Moth, Stealth Musk | Loves (+8) |
| Josh | Expert BBQ Platter, Filling Platter, Harvest Stew | Loves (+8) |
| Molly | Funneltop, Steel Bar, Platinum Ore | Loves (+8) |
| Sam | Voidbloom, Expert Garden Salad, Void Dinner | Loves (+8) |
| Tanner | Aged Rum, Harvest Stew, Shadewing Moth | Loves (+8) |

Who Reacts Differently
Personal tables are where the traps are. Pumpkin is a liked gift in general, but Sam and Blorph hate it, so the common list alone would mislead you. Alice hates Void Dinner and Duskmelon Cupcake despite both giving a positive reception elsewhere, and Blorph's hate list runs to dozens of ordinary foods — bread, corn, milk, pizza and more — while Odd Sandwich stays one of his favorites.
- Blorph: hates most standard meals and drinks; loves Odd Sandwich, Godflesh, Godscale and Stealth Musk.
- Alice: loves Funneltop and Shadewing Moth; hates Void Dinner and Duskmelon Cupcake.
- Celeste: the quick list shows liked gifts, not her personal favorites, so check her own table.
- Any item with no entry in a character's table or the common lists counts as disliked.
The quickest safe route is to keep a small stock of the crossover favourites — Shadewing Moth suits both Alice and Tanner, Stealth Musk is loved by Blorph and Ellie, and Harvest Stew lands for Josh and Tanner — then top up per character when you know who you are visiting.
- Shadewing Moth: loved by Alice and Tanner, a rare two-villager favourite.
- Stealth Musk: loved by Blorph and Ellie.
- Harvest Stew: loved by Josh and Tanner.
- Funneltop: loved by Alice and Molly.
- Avoid Pumpkin for Sam and Blorph despite its general liked status.
Practical Gifting Rules
Check the exact item name before giving anything away, because a cooked meal does not inherit its ingredients' preference. Quality versions with the same name share the same reaction, so your highest-quality item is safe to give. The full per-character tables for Alice, Blorph, Celeste, Edwin, Ellie, Josh, Molly, Sam and Tanner sit on the neoseeker gift guide and the wiki character pages, and the exact neutral lists for several characters are still being filled in.
For the relationship system these gifts feed, see the romance page, and for map rewards that come from the same villagers, see treasure maps.
FAQ
How many gifts can you give per day in Welcome to Elderfield?
One gift per day and two gifts per week per villager. The gift guide frames the limit as the reason to spend each opportunity on something the character loves or likes, and every character page on the wiki repeats the same one-per-day, two-per-week rule.
How much friendship does a gift give?
Personal favorites give +8, personal likes +6 and personal neutral gifts +4. Common liked gifts give +5 and common neutral gifts +3 unless the recipient has a personal preference. Hated gifts take away 8 and disliked gifts take away 6.
What are the loved gifts for each villager?
Documented examples are Funneltop, Shadewing Moth and Lesser Holy Water for Alice; Odd Sandwich, Godflesh and Stealth Musk for Blorph; Gorgon's Eye, Duskberry Cake and Void Crystal Bar for Edwin; Pickled Eyeballs, Bloodwing Moth and Stealth Musk for Ellie; Expert BBQ Platter, Filling Platter and Harvest Stew for Josh; Funneltop, Steel Bar and Platinum Ore for Molly; Voidbloom, Expert Garden Salad and Void Dinner for Sam; and Aged Rum, Harvest Stew and Shadewing Moth for Tanner.
Does a cooked dish count the same as its ingredients?
No. The gift guide warns to check the exact item name, because a meal, drink or preserve does not necessarily get the same reaction as the ingredients it is made from. Quality versions with the same name do share the same preference, so you do not need to save your best-quality item for gifting.
What happens if I give an item that is not on any list?
If an item appears in the gift menu but is not in that villager's personal table or the common lists, the guide treats it as disliked. That is why the quick-gift rows are described as examples rather than full lists — check the character's own table before giving away anything valuable.
