A Tiny Eden guide is mostly a care-and-cash loop: clean the balcony, learn what one plant needs, sell what you cook, then spend that money on the space, tools and temperature gear that let you grow more. The game launched as a full 1.0 release on September 7, 2026 for Windows and Linux at $14.99, with no Early Access period, and the developers describe it as an economic simulation, a farming sim and a life sim rolled together. Everything below comes from the official store text, the developer FAQ thread and the credited community walkthrough.

How a Tiny Eden Save Opens

The opening is scripted enough to follow literally. Read the notes, clear the trash pile on the balcony, stand the fallen planters upright, then open the cabinet and free the drone. Water the plants until the marker reaches the thin line, which is the sweet spot the game wants, and talk to the drone again after you clean the dirt.

From there the loop turns into commerce. Buy the shears from the store menu, collect the order from the parcel box in the lobby, equip the shears from the toolbar and cut the ripe strawberries. Take strawberry seeds from the cabinet, plant them in the matching holes, fill the watering can at the sink and water to roughly 90 percent.

Opening stepWhat to do
1Read the notes and clear the balcony trash
2Set the fallen planters upright
3Free the drone from the cabinet
4Water until the marker hits the sweet-spot line
5Buy shears, collect them at the parcel box, harvest strawberries
6Replant strawberry seeds and water to about 90 percent

A few habits make the first day easier:

  • Water to the marker rather than as far as the bar allows; overwatering is its own problem.
  • Start with a small number of crops and varieties, as the walkthrough advises, until the status symbols are familiar.
  • Fill the watering can at the sink in your apartment instead of buying water.

Plant Care: Soil, Light and Temperature

Steam describes flowers, berries and vegetables as each having their own needs. You pick the right planter, mix soil from compost, sand, clay and more, then place the plant where light and temperature suit it, keeping it watered and free of weeds. The developer FAQ confirms soil is simulated with seven agricultural components — compost, sand, clay, perlite, coco coir, peat and one secret ingredient — plus parameters such as NPK and micronutrients, aeration, water permeability and retention, and acidity.

Light depends on where you place a plant, and the developer answer lists shading nets and grow lights as the tools that adjust it. Temperature depends on location and season: balconies are warmer than rooftops but colder than indoor rooms, and heaters and air conditioners are the controls. Crops also meet organic degradation, soil-borne diseases, growth hormones and immune boosters, and pellet, liquid and aerosol fertilizers.

Press Alt to read a plant's status, then match the symbol against your guide to work out what is wrong, which is the fastest way to diagnose a struggling crop. Weeds are pulled with a pitchfork and leave biomass behind that you can pick up. The developer FAQ adds that a dead or wilting plant needs the trowel from the shop, held on the plant or soil with the left mouse button.

Orders, Cooking and Reputation

Money comes through the order board and the kitchen rather than raw crop sales. The intoindiegames walkthrough sends you to the Atrium, where your first customer stands outside the DIY Club and pays with compost and new seeds as well as cash. The first recipe you learn is Vitamin Salad, made from strawberries and Pak Choy.

Money routeWhat it involves
OrdersPick easy requests, finish them fast, bank the reputation
CookingTurn crops into dishes; cooked food sells for more than ingredients
MarketChange a product's price later from the Trading Hub in the menu
ShopStock showcases and let products sell automatically once unlocked

Reputation is the real currency of progress, because it gates recipes and rooms. The walkthrough's advice is to finish simple orders quickly, keep regrowable crops such as strawberries, cornflowers, peas and beans in rotation, and dedicate a few pots to cooking ingredients so the kitchen never stalls. Be aware that version 1.0 only lets you sell cooked dishes; raw crops and seedlings are a stated "maybe later", not a current feature.

Second Room, Genetics Lab and Shop

Once the basics are learned, a task asks you to buy the second room key under the Misc tab of the shop menu, collect it from the parcel terminal and open the room. Reputation and neighbour quests unlock the rooms beyond that one. Inside the second room you build the lab by interacting with the Project: Genetic Lab blueprint, which lists planks, textile and fasteners; those come from the shop or from around the apartment.

The lab turns crops into better crops. Submit the required number of plants, press Bloom and, if you have enough Plasmids, evolve the plant so it carries extra traits and survives harder conditions. Update #12, published September 29, 2026, added the ability to reset plant perks in the lab and to choose from four perk cards instead of three once Gene Level 5 is reached. When reputation is high enough you can also buy recipes such as Bean Stir-Fry and Caramelized Onion Jam from the Kitchen tab, which need club reputation three.

  • Buy the second room key from the Misc tab, then collect it from the parcel terminal.
  • Build the Genetic Lab blueprint to open the evolution system.
  • Spend Plasmids on Bloom to add traits, and reset perks after Update #12 if a build fails.
  • Grow reputation before buying recipes; the Kitchen tab recipes need club reputation three.

The shop itself opens after you earn a total of 100 coins. The walkthrough notes that spending does not reduce that running total, so the milestone tracks gross earnings. Collect the key from the parcel terminal, unlock the door with the Tiny Market sign in the Atrium, then build showcases and a checkout counter from blueprints and place products on the shelves.

For the two systems this guide only summarises, the plants page covers temperature, light and soil in detail, and the money page breaks down the cooking and selling loop. If you want the tasks in strict order instead of by system, the walkthrough follows the credited route from the first harvest to the Tiny Market. You do not have to stand in the shop: products sell on their own, and the Trading Hub in the menu lets you raise a price afterwards.

FAQ

How do I start a new save in Tiny Eden?

Read the notes on the balcony, clear the pile of trash, stand the fallen planters back up, free the drone from the cabinet and water the plants until the marker sits on the thin sweet-spot line. Then buy the shears from the store, collect them from the parcel box in the lobby, harvest the ripe strawberries and replant their seeds, watering to about 90 percent.

Why is money so tight early in Tiny Eden?

Almost everything is bought: soil, seeds, tools, recipes, planter blueprints and temperature gear. Only cooked dishes can be sold in version 1.0, so a plate of Vitamin Salad made from strawberries and Pak Choy is the first real income. The community thread on progression recommends heaters and fans for temperature, parsley by the bedroom window for light, and peas because many orders ask for them.

Do I need to sleep to pass time in Tiny Eden?

Yes. The game runs on a day cycle, and the intoindiegames walkthrough says to sleep through days to let slow crops such as cornflowers finish growing. The developers have also confirmed there is no game over and no time pressure, and that time runs at a 60:1 ratio, so one real second is one in-game minute.

When does the second room unlock in Tiny Eden?

Once the basic tasks are done, a task asks you to purchase the second room key. It sits under the Misc tab in the shop menu, and you collect the key from the parcel terminal and unlock the room. Unlocking further rooms needs reputation and neighbour quests first, according to the intoindiegames walkthrough.

Where does the genetics lab go?

The lab is built inside the second room. You interact with the Project: Genetic Lab blueprint to see its material list; planks, textile and fasteners come from the shop or from around the apartment. Submitting the required crops and pressing Bloom spends Plasmids to evolve a plant and give it extra surviving traits.
