Building in Tiny Eden is a gated system rather than an open sandbox toolkit. You unlock build mode by completing tasks, then place blueprints you own and finish them with the hammer. That is how the credited walkthrough adds extra planters to the balcony and how the apartment gradually grows from a few pots into rooms and eventually a rooftop greenhouse, which Steam describes as the long-term shape of the garden.
Build Mode, Blueprints and the Hammer
Build mode is unlocked through progression, not purchased. Once it is open, you can place any blueprint you hold, and each placement finishes when you strike the blueprint a few times with the hammer. The same tool therefore covers planters, fixtures and furniture.
| Element | How it works |
|---|---|
| Build mode | Unlocked by progressing through tasks |
| Blueprints | Placed from what you own or buy |
| Hammer | Struck against a blueprint to finish construction |
| Planters | Added to the balcony through build mode |
- Place the blueprint first, then hammer it to completion.
- Blueprint purchases come from the shop menu.
- Build extra planters whenever your crop list outgrows the balcony.
- Decoration is separate from function; Steam says you mix and match furniture to make the space feel like home.

Room Keys and Material Gathering
Space is bought with keys and earned with reputation. The second room key sits under the Misc tab in the shop menu, and you collect it from the parcel terminal after purchase. Beyond that, the walkthrough is clear that more rooms require reputation and neighbour quests rather than another coin payment.
| Unlock | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Second room | Buy the key under the Misc tab, collect at the parcel terminal |
| Further rooms | Build reputation and unlock more neighbours via quests |
| Genetic lab | Build inside the second room from its blueprint |
| Lab materials | Planks, textile and fasteners from the shop or the apartment |
- Check the Project: Genetic Lab blueprint for its full material list.
- Buy planks, textile and fasteners from the shop.
- Search the apartment for materials you would otherwise buy.
- Accept that some materials are not sold at the shop and come from other systems.
FAQ
How does building work in Tiny Eden?
You unlock build mode by progressing through tasks, then place any blueprint you own and strike it a few times with the hammer to finish construction. The credited walkthrough describes adding several new planters to the balcony this way, and Steam's store text frames decorating the apartment as a core part of expanding the garden.
How do I get more planters and building space?
Build them from blueprints in build mode, and unlock new rooms with expansion keys. The walkthrough says you can add several new planters to your balcony through build mode, while further rooms need you to build up reputation and unlock more neighbours by completing their quests first.
Where do I buy the key to the second room in Tiny Eden?
Under the Misc tab in the shop menu. The walkthrough says one of the tasks requires you to purchase the second room key there, then collect it from the parcel terminal and use it to unlock the room.
What materials does the genetics lab need in Tiny Eden?
The Project: Genetic Lab blueprint shows the full list when you interact with it. The walkthrough names planks, textile and fasteners, which you can buy from the shop or find lying around the apartment, and notes that materials not sold in the shop have to be acquired through other means.
Do room upgrades need money or reputation?
Both, depending on the step. Keys are bought from the shop menu, while the walkthrough says unlocking further rooms requires building up reputation and unlocking more neighbours through their quests. The apartment grows from the balcony outward toward the rooftop greenhouse.
